Description of the visit
The Grotte de Fontrabiouse is open every day for guided tours.
For around 50 minutes, discover an exceptional underground world in the heart of the Pyrénées-Orientales. The visit begins with a walk of approximately 100 metres outdoors, an opportunity to learn about the discovery of the cave and to introduce the site.
You will then explore around 800 metres of galleries across the different levels of the cave. Your guide will explain the processes that led to the formation of this underground network, as well as those still shaping the formations you will observe along the way.
Attention will be drawn to the most remarkable formations, and you will also be invited to experience pareidolia, letting your imagination interpret the shapes sculpted by time and water.
The route follows a developed pathway. It includes stairs going down, with no uphill effort required, as the exit leads directly inside the reception building, into the shop area.
